Dodgers injury notes: Ramirez hoping to play Monday, Kemp closer to return

The Dodgers hope to get two of their injured players back in the lineup Monday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the hottest teams in baseball, and received more good news Sunday regarding three of their injured stars. Two of the injured players are planning on returning to the lineup Monday, while another is closer to his eventual return.

Ramirez hoping to return Monday

Hanley Ramirez is hoping to return to the Dodgers lineup soon, potentially as early as Monday, reports Ken Gurnick and Austin Laymance of MLB.com. The shortstop injured his right shoulder last week falling into the stands at Wrigley Field after catching a foul ball.

Ramirez told the reporters that the Dodgers want him “100 percent” before he returns to the lineup so he doesn’t re-aggravate the injury. He is also prepared to play with a little discomfort in his shoulder if needed.

Kemp closer to return

Matt Kemp continues to test his surgically repaired ankle, taking batting practice and shagging flyballs on the field before Sunday's game. The outfielder has been hitting since Wednesday, but Sunday marked the first time he tracked flyballs since he injured his ankle June 21.

Kemp was also able to work out in the weight room and do some light running, but has yet to run at full speed. He will need to run and cut on his ankle at full speed before he can begin his rehab assignment.

Gonzalez exits game with dizziness

Adrian Gonzalez left in the eighth inning of Sunday night's game against the Tampa Bay Rays after feeling dizzy, but is expected back in the lineup Monday night.

The move to remove Gonzalez was precautionary, as the Dodgers held an 8-2 lead when they lifted the first baseman for a pinch-runner. Doctors examined Gonzalez after the game and Gonzalez reported afterwards that “everything is fine.”
