Justin Ruggiano’s tough afternoon dot GIF

The Marlins outfielder finally snapped his hit-less skid, but seems to have forgotten how to run the bases.

USA TODAY Sports

It's not Justin Ruggiano's day, week, month, whatever. He entered play on Wednesday in the midst of an 0-for-42 skid at the plate, just four hit-less at-bats short of tying the MLB record for non-pitchers, set by Eugenio Velez back in 2010 and 2011.

But wait, what’s this? Could it be... a Justin Ruggiano single?

Sure, it's an infield hit, but it all counts the same. Ruggiano is all smiles as he heads back to first base triumphantly, while his Marlins' teammates break out in applause and cheers to celebrate the Wednesday afternoon achievement:

Such a happy moment, a joyous occasion, a... wait, no, Justin, what are you doing why are you trying to steal second on the first pitch!?

Ruggiano-cs

Oh, Justin. You flew too close to the sun. But hey, at least the 0-for-42 nightmare is over, and you've learned not to run on Salvador Perez and his arm, not even as a surprise on a first pitch.
