Twins minor-league team earns walk-off win on failed intentional walk

And we have video to prove it.

USA TODAY Sports

In a battle of New England minor-league teams, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats faced off against the New Britain Rock Cats on Tuesday. It was a standard affair until the game’s final inning, when things went off the rails for New Hampshire, and they ended up losing the game on a walk-off intentional walk.

You read that correctly. I know that's hard to believe, but stay with me: we even have video of the incident. First, the setup. New Britain was down 5-3, but tied it up on the strength of three doubles. Top prospect Miguel Sano was then walked and stole second base, setting up an intentional walk of Reynaldo Rodriguez in order to bring the force back into play.

The force wouldn’t be necessary, though, because intentional ball number four ended up sailing right over the catcher:

Sano took off for home and ended up scoring, giving the Rock Cats a win, and Rodriguez an intentional walk with a game-winning RBI attached.

I hope for something like this during basically every intentional walk. Thank you, Fisher Cats.
