A number of players have already switched teams after the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, including Alex Rios, Jamey Carroll and others. Several more players could be on the move to contending teams looking for help down the stretch.
MLB August trade deadline: Justin Morneau, Michael Young, Adam Dunn, others clear waivers
A couple of productive veterans, as well as a fairly extensive list of other players, recently cleared waivers, paving the way for inclined contenders to make deals.

Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau headlines the list, which also includes Philadelphia Phillies infielder Michael Young, Chicago White Sox slugger Adam Dunn and a host of others.
Morneau cleared waivers on Aug. 14, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He is owed about $3.5 million for the remainder of the season and has posted a batting line of .262/.318/.423, so it’s understandable that a team didn’t jump at the opportunity to place a claim on the 32-year-old veteran. Morneau owns a slugging-heavy .936 OPS in August, thanks to six home runs over his first 10 games of the month.
Young cleared on Aug. 8, tweeted Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, and has previously stated he would waive his no-trade clause to be dealt to a contending team. The Yankees and Red Sox were rumored to be interested in Young before the non-waiver deadline, but New York has the services of Alex Rodriguez until a decision is made on his appeal to a 211-game suspension. Young is hitting .270/.335/.396 in 448 plate appearances for the Phillies.
Dunn, who cleared on Aug. 9, per CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, is still owed more than $4 million this season, but is putting up near-identical numbers in 2013 as he did in 2012, when he finished the season with 41 home runs and 105 walks. An awful start to the season has dragged down Dunn’s overall batting line, but he has hit .288/.403/.527 with 15 home runs since the beginning of June.
