Roy Halladay tossed six innings on Thursday in his first rehab start since undergoing shoulder surgery in May to repair a partially torn rotator cuff. Halladay surrendered three runs on six hits in the Gulf Coast League game, striking out four and walking three.
Roy Halladay injury: Phillies RHP throws 6 innings in first rehab game
The former Cy Young winner took the mound on Thursday to pitch in his first game since undergoing shoulder surgery in May.

He threw 87 pitches, including 51 strikes. The velocity of his pitches had not been reported as of Thursday night.
The 36-year-old Cy Young winner, who saw his pitch velocity take a dip during spring training, said he focused primarily on getting comfortable with his sinker and cutter. After pitching a simulated game earlier in the week, he said he felt like he still had some energy left in the tank, but would take his rehab process slowly.
Halladay is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday and make his second rehab start next Tuesday. It is unclear if he will return to the big leagues in 2013, although this was a promising sign.

The Phillies will have an interesting decision to make this offseason. The club holds an option on Halladay worth $20 million. If they decline to pick up the option, Halladay becomes a free agent.
