Jose Dariel Abreu, the Cuban defector who is attempting make the move to MLB, will participate in a showcase for teams in September and has chosen Praver Shapiro Sports Management to represent him, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports.

Matt Sullivan at MLB Daily Dish examined which teams may be interested in the slugging first baseman and what kind of player he profiles to be. The Red Sox appear to be at the forefront of rumors for Abreu, with the Orioles, Rangers, Mets, and Pirates all likely to take a serious look.

Passan noted on Twitter that Abreu could be looking at the largest contract ever for a Cuban defector. He estimates bidding could reach $60 million.

Abreu has been compared to fellow countrymen Yoenis Cespedes and Yasiel Puig. Cespedes signed a four-year deal worth $36 million while Puig signed for seven years and $42 million.

Praver Shapiro has represented a number of Cuban players, including journeyman starting pitcher Livan Hernandez, Marlins' infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, and Cubs' prospect Jorge Soler.

Interest and rumors surrounding Abreu should heat up after the September showcase.
