Despite the fourth highest scoring offense in the MLB, the Baltimore Orioles still have holes in their lineup. Most notable, the team has the worst wOBA in the American League at designated hitter. The team has lukewarm interest in Twins first baseman Justin Morneau, says Rosenthal. Morneau had been talked about by several teams, including Baltimore, around the trade deadline, though nobody pulled the trigger on a deal. Urrutia is one of five players to have played at least 10 games as designated hitter for Baltimore. Nolan Reimold (27 games), Danny Valencia (19), Steve Pearce (16), and Chris Dickerson (14) are the others who have seen significant time at the position. None has impressed enough to take the job full-time.
The Orioles are currently third in the American League East with a 66-56 record, 5.5 games out of first place. The team is three games back of the second wild card spot.
