Miguel Tejada had Biogenesis connection

The suspended infielder has been linked to Biogenesis, but he won’t face additional punishment.

There is evidence connecting Miguel Tejada to Biogenesis, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday. Tejada is currently serving a 105-game suspension after testing positive on multiple occasions this season for amphetamine use.

Major League Baseball reportedly told Tejada he could accept the 105-game suspension as punishment for his amphetamine use or risk additional punishment from the league for his connection to Biogenesis. Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch provided the evidence proving that Tejada had been a customer of the now-defunct clinic.

The 16-year veteran was in his first year with the Kansas City Royals, and will be a free agent following the season. In 53 games with the club, he hit .288/.317/.388 with three home runs and 20 RBI. Tejada says he does not plan to retire, but his lengthy suspension won't make finding a new club easy -- it will carry over into 2014, and if Tejada does sign somewhere, he'll have to sit for 64 games.
