Mike Trout injury: Angels OF to be re-evaluated on Friday

The Trout-less Angels, who are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Indians, will see how their star responds to a workout on Friday before making a decision on his status for the next series.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who has missed the team's past three games with a hamstring injury, will have an "aggressive" workout on Friday, manager Mike Scioscia told Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, after which point he'll be re-evaluated.

Trout left in the sixth inning of a tie game against the Houston Astros on Sunday after suffering the injury. The Angels went on to lose, 7-5, and proceeded to drop all three games of their series against the Cleveland Indians without Trout in the lineup.

The 22-year-old phenom is having an even better season this year than the one that earned him American League Rookie of the Year honors and a second-place finish in the MVP voting in 2012. Trout is hitting .333/.430/.574 with 21 home runs and 28 stolen bases in 560 plate appearances. He ranks first in the AL in walks with 77 and triples with eight.

Despite the presence of one of baseball’s elite talents, the Angels have scuffled to a 55-71 record.
