Dodgers vs. Marlins: Clayton Kershaw, Brian Wilson combine for 6-0 victory

Kershaw continues to add to a season that could result in a Cy Young Award.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Clayton Kershaw struck out six and allowed just five hits during eight shutout innings on Thursday, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-0 win over the Miami Marlins.

This is the third straight outing in which Kershaw (13-7, 1.72 ERA) has pitched eight innings, and the fifth time in six games he has accomplished the feat. In the past 10 games, the southpaw has not allowed more than three runs while pitching at least six innings in each outing. Kershaw needed 103 pitches on Thursday to get through eight innings, while also going 1-for-4 at the plate and knocking in a run in his own support.

Veteran closer Brian Wilson finished out the day, allowing a hit and striking out two in one inning of relief work. It was the first action for Wilson since undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2012 and signing a one-year deal with the Dodgers in July.

Outfielder Carl Crawford added two RBI while going 1-for-5 on the day, with Yasiel Puig also sending a run home with a 1-for-3 outing of his own. Adrian Gonzalez also added two hits in five plate appearances, while Skip Schumaker and A.J. Ellis each notched an RBI on the day.
