Matt Cain injury: Giants RHP leaves game after being hit by line drive
Matt Cain took a sharp line drive off of his pitching arm Thursday night.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain left Thursday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth inning after taking a line drive off his right arm. First baseman Gaby Sanchez hit the liner towards the mound, which came too quick for Cain to react and avoid its path.
Facing Sanchez to start the fourth inning, Cain threw a four-seam fastball away on the third pitch of the at-bat and Sanchez drove it straight back to the mound, hitting Cain in his pitching arm. The ball appeared to strike Cain in the forearm area before ricocheting toward second base, where Marco Scutaro was able to field it for the out.
Immediately after the play, Giants training staff rushed to check on Cain and he was pulled from the game without hesitation. Right-hander Guillermo Moscoso replaced Cain on the mound. The injury does not appear to be anything serious at this point, but Cain will be examined more thoroughly Friday.
Cain had been struggling in the early innings Thursday, allowing three runs and seven hits, including two home runs. In 25 starts this season, Cain has a record of 8-8 and he entered this game with a 4.35 ERA.
