New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is once again ready to rejoin the team and is eyeing a return to the lineup on Monday, according to MLB.com. Jeter has been on the disabled list since suffering a calf stain on Aug. 3.
Derek Jeter injury: Yankees SS targets Monday return
The Yankees shortstop will try to rejoin the Yankees for the third time this season, having played in just five major league games in 2013.

The current plan is for the Yankees' captain to play one more minor league rehab game for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday before rejoining New York's lineup in time for the team's series against the Blue Jays. Jeter played his second rehab game on Friday, and reportedly felt good afterwards.
“You feel more and more comfortable the more you play,” Jeter said, via MLB.com. “Like I said before, I understand I have to play some games here. I’ll play one more [on Saturday], and hopefully, everything is good and I keep getting more comfortable.”
This is Jeter’s third rehab stint this season. He missed the first half of the season recovering from offseason surgery on his right ankle. Upon his return July 11, he promptly injured his right quad and landed back on the disabled list. Four days after coming back from that injury, he went down with the strained calf.
Overall, the 39-year-old Jeter has played just five games for the Yankees this season, picking up four hits in 21 plate appearances.
