Los Angeles Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick is still not running at full speed on his injured knee, and Mike Scioscia is unsure when the second baseman will return, reports Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register.

Kendrick hyperextended his knee on Aug. 5 after colliding with right fielder Collin Cowgill while attempting to catch a flyball. An MRI showed no structural damage, and the Angels originally hoped Kendrick could avoid spending time on the disabled list. The team eventually sent Kendrick to the DL on Aug. 10, retroactive to Aug. 6.
The second baseman had been enjoying a strong season at the plate before his injury, batting .301/.341/.437 with 31 extra-base hits. The Angels looked to capitalize on Kendrick's value for some pitching help, nearly sending Kendrick to the Los Angeles Dodgers before the non-waiver deadline, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
There is little reason for the Angels to rush Kendrick back; they sit 17 1/2 games back behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West. The Angels already shut down slugger Albert Pujols for the remainder of the year.
