An MRI performed on Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jason Hammel revealed no structural damage, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com.
Jason Hammel injury: Orioles P’s MRI reveals only inflammation
The Orioles received good news regarding Jason Hammel’s injury, which shelved the right-handed starter last week.

Hammel’s MRI reportedly only showed inflammation around his ulnar nerve, according to Kubatko. Hammel has struggled to the tune of a 5.20 ERA in 21 starts this season after posting a 3.43 ERA during his debut season in Baltimore last year.
The 30-year-old right-hander’s strikeout rate has decreased by more than two batters per nine innings, too, and he’s allowed more than twice as many home runs as he did in 2012.
The Orioles acquired Hammel from the Colorado Rockies after the 2011 season in exchange for fan-favorite Jeremy Guthrie. Baltimore is currently in third place in the American League East with a 61-49 record entering play on Saturday.
