Alex Rodriguez walked four times in final minor league rehab game

Rodriguez is tentatively scheduled to return to the Yankees Monday after playing two rehabilitation games with a minor league affiliate.

Alex Rodriguez played in his final minor-league rehab game Saturday, drawing four walks with Double-A Trenton before his scheduled removal after the seventh inning.

Rodriguez hit a homer in his first rehab game, and sounded upbeat talking to the media on Friday, telling Tom Canavan of The Associated Press, “I am mentally prepared to play for five more years. It’s not time for me to hang it up. I have a lot more left in me. I will keep fighting.”

Rodriguez is scheduled to rejoin the New York Yankees in Chicago before Monday night's game against the White Sox. It is unclear if he will actually return to the team; MLB is expected to suspend Rodriguez no later than Monday for the remainder of the 2013 season and all of 2014.

MLB is no longer interested in negotiating a settlement with Rodriguez after he suggested that the Yankees were behind the effort to ban him. Rodriguez has a Sunday deadline to accept his suspension, but is expected to fight any penalties and try to return to the major leagues as soon as possible.
