Athletics 4, Rangers 2: Yoenis Cespedes blasted a two-run home run off Matt Garza, giving the Athletics enough run support to snap the Rangers' five-game winning streak. Jarrod Parker tossed six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while fanning seven. Eric Sogard drove in an insurance run with a safety squeeze in the seventh, which upset Garza.

Dodgers 3, Cubs 0: Chris Capuano tossed 6⅓ shutout innings, helping the Dodgers win their 13th straight road game. Carl Crawford paced the Los Angeles attack, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. The Dodgers have been playing .800 baseball over the past five weeks, noted by Eric Stephen of True Blue LA:

Mariners 8, Orioles 4: Michael Saunders blasted a pair of homers, driving in five runs to end the Mariners' four-game losing streak. Justin Smoak went 3-3 with a solo home run and a pair of walks, while Kendrys Morales had two singles for his fifth straight multi-hit game. Manny Machado hit his 40th double of the season, but his first since July 6.
Royals 4, Mets 3 (12): Trade deadline acquisition Justin Maxwell yanked a pinch-hit homer in the top of the 12th, his first home run since joining the Royals.
Bruce Chen turned in his fourth straight quality start since rejoining the rotation, only allowing one run over six innings while fanning eight Mets. Kelvin Herrera tossed three scoreless innings of relief to earn the victory.
Pirates 5, Rockies 2: Francisco Liriano tossed seven shutout innings, only allowing two hits against the Rockies to earn his 12th win of the season. Jose Tabata finished a double shy of the cycle, while Andrew McCutchen went 2-3 with a double and a walk. Mark Melancon pitched a perfect ninth for his sixth save.
Tigers 3, White Sox 0: Max Scherzer became the first MLB pitcher this season to reach 16 wins, blanking the White Sox over 7⅔ innings. Detroit scored all three of its runs on homers; Torii Hunter, Joel Peralta and Jose Iglesias each smacked solo shots. The Tigers have won 11 of their past 12, most of those wins coming without Miguel Cabrera in the lineup.
Braves 5, Phillies 4 (12): Atlanta's bullpen tossed 5⅔ scoreless innings, helping the Braves earn their ninth straight victory. Dan Uggla broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI groundout, while Justin Upton cracked his 19th home run of the season in the third inning. Brandon Beachy made his second start since coming off the DL, allowing four runs on five hits over 6⅓ innings.
Red Sox 5, Diamondbacks 2: Jake Peavy won his first game as a member of the Red Sox, scattering four hits and two runs over seven innings. Shane Victorino and Jarrod Saltalamacchia each hit solo homers, while Paul Goldschmidt smashed a solo home run for the Diamondbacks. Jonny Gomes made a key defensive play, throwing out Cliff Pennington at home plate to protect a one-run lead in the eighth.
Nationals 3, Brewers 0: Dan Haren tossed seven scoreless innings for his second straight win after the Nationals had lost his past 11 starts. Wilson Ramos and Adam LaRoche both went deep for Washington; LaRoche used Jayson Werth's bat to connect on his 15th home run of the season. The Brewers lost their third straight game, and have only scored one run in two games against the Nationals.
Twins 6, Astros 4: The Twins bullpen bailed out rookie Kyle Gibson, tossing six scoreless innings to keep Minnesota in striking distance. Ryan Doumit singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh, finishing the game 2-4. Brian Dozier smacked a double and a triple, while Oswaldo Arcia chipped in with a single, triple and RBI walk.
Reds 8, Cardinals 3: Devin Mesoraco hit a pair of homers and drove in three runs, helping the Reds beat the Cardinals for just the fourth time this season in 11 games. Jack Hannahan and Shin-Soo Choo each drove in two runs, while Brandon Phillips went 2-4 with a double and RBI. Tony Cingrani picked up his fifth win of the year, allowing three runs over five innings while fanning seven.
Indians 4, Marlins 3: The Indians ran wild against the Marlins, going 6-6 on stolen base attempts while collecting their ninth victory in the past ten games. Jason Kipnis broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh with a two-run single, finishing the game with three RBI. Chris Perez surrendered a run in the bottom of the ninth, but held on for his 16th save of the year.
David Price and Tim Lincecum both turned in impressive performances, combining to allow two runs over 16 innings while striking out 10. Tampa Bay fans showed up to support the Rays, which has traditionally led to success for the home team:

Yankees 3, Padres 0: Curtis Granderson hit his first home run since coming off the DL, providing the Yankees with some badly needed power. Ivan Nova threw seven dominant innings, holding the Padres to four hits while striking out eight. Mariano Rivera tossed a perfect ninth inning to record his 35th save of the year.
Angels 7, Blue Jays 3: Jered Weaver turned in a solid performance, holding the Blue Jays to three runs on seven hits over 7⅔ innings. Howie Kendrick led the Angels with three hits, while Josh Hamilton and Erick Aybar also had multi-hit games. Kole Calhoun hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the fifth, the second home run of his career.
