Around the Bases: A.J. Burnett tosses complete game, Dodgers win 14th straight on the road

Royals 6, Mets 2: Ervin Santana scattered five hits and one run over six innings for Kansas City, his fourth straight quality start. The Royals have won 11 of their past 12, and went 8-1 over a nine-game road trip.

Marlon Byrd lost two fly balls in the sun, helping the Royals score three runs in the top-half of the fifth. Byrd also struck out with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom half of the inning.

Cardinals 15, Reds 2: The Cardinals offense erupted for 19 hits, scoring a season-high 15 runs against the Reds. Matt Adams, David Freese and Tony Cruz all hit home runs for St. Louis, while Matt Carpenter broke out of an 0-23 slump with a bases-loaded double. Lance Lynn threw eight dominant innings, holding Cincinnati to two runs on four hits while fanning 11.

Tigers 3, White Sox 2 (12): Torii Hunter hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th, plating Matt Tuiasosopo for Detroit's 12th win in their past 13 games.

Miguel Cabrera led off the 12th with a pinch-hit single before Tuiasosopo pinch-ran for the injured slugger. The White Sox have now lost 10 straight.

Indians 2, Marlins 0: Scott Kazmir and three relievers combined to hold the Marlins to four hits, picking up their 10th victory in their past 11 games. Cleveland took two of three games from Miami despite only scoring six runs in the series. The Indians have thrown 15 shutouts this season, the most in the majors.

Red Sox 4, Diamondbacks 0: Felix Doubront tossed sevens shutout innings, only allowing five hits while striking out five. Jacoby Ellsbury drove in a pair of runs, while Shane Victorino and Stephen Drew each had multi-hit games. Boston reliever Matt Thornton exited the game in the eighth with an apparent injury.

Dodgers 1, Cubs 0: Stephen Fife and three relievers held the Cubs scoreless, giving the Dodgers their 14th straight road victory. A.J. Ellis drove in the only run of the game, plating Hanley Ramirez with a single in the second. Ramirez left the game in the seventh inning with a right shoulder injury, flipping into the stands after running down a foul ball:

Mariners 3, Orioles 2: Henry Blanco blasted a two-run homer off Wei-Yin Chen in the seventh, his third home run of the season. Joe Saunders held the Orioles to two runs over six innings, earning his 10th win of the year. Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4, driving in the first run of the game with a double.

Pirates 5, Rockies 1: A.J. Burnett threw his first complete game of the season, only allowing one run on eight hits while fanning eight Rockies. Russell Martin smacked his 10th home run of the year, a three-run shot off Manny Corpas, while Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Pittsburgh improved to 67-44, the best record in MLB.

Rays 4, Giants 3: Sam Fuld singled in the game-winning run, driving in Yunel Escobar in the sixth after Fuld had scored the game-tying run in the fifth on a Evan Longoria single. The Rays bullpen kept the came close, only allowing one hit over 4 ⅓ innings. Wil Myers blasted a two-run homer in the first, and has been on fire since the All-Star break:

Brewers 8, Nationals 5: Jeff Bianchi blooped a two-run single, breaking a 4-4 tie and capping off a five-run sixth for Milwaukee. The Brewers only had two runs and nine hits in the first two games of the series, and had lost three straight games. Jim Henderson tossed a scoreless ninth for save No. 15

Twins 3, Astros 2: Oswaldo Arcia hit a solo homer in the seventh inning, powering the Twins to a three-game sweep over the Astros. Justin Morneau drove in the first runs for Minnesota with a two-run bomb in the first. Glen Perkins held the Stros scoreless in the ninth for his 27th save of the year.

Blue Jays 6, Angels 5, : Edwin Encarnacion singled in the game-winning run, driving in Rajai Davis with two outs in the top of the ninth. The Blue Jays scored four runs in the final two frames after C.J. Wilson had held them two two runs over seven innings. Jose Bautista went 3-for-5, driving in pair of runs and scoring another.

Rangers 4, Athletics 0: Derek Holland turned in an impressive performance, holding the Athletics to four hits and zero runs while striking out 10 over eight innings. Nelson Cruz and Mitch Moreland both smashed home runs off A.J. Griffin, who has surrendered 28 homers on the year. The win was No. 582 for Texas manager Ron Washington, making him the winningest manager in Rangers history.

Padres 6, Yankees 3: San Diego pulled ahead early, grabbing a 6-0 lead, and Phil Hughes couldn't make it out of the third innings. Former Yankees product Ian Kennedy, making his Padres debut, struck out six and allowed just two runs in packing up his fourth win as San Diego took two of three from the Bronx Bombers. Everth Cabrera had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for San Diego on the eve of the expected Biogenesis suspensions.

Braves 4, Phillies 1: National League batting average leader Chris Johnson drove in two runs in the first inning, which proved to be all Atlanta would need to secure their 10th straight win. Johnson went 2-for-4 and is batting .346/.387/.479 on the season. He helped knock out Philadelphia starter Cliff Lee after just five innings and send the Phillies to their 13th loss in the past 14 games. Alex Wood allowed a run in six innings to earn his second win for the Braves, who have the largest divisional lead in MLB at 12 ½ games over Washington in the NL East. Also, this:
