Biogenesis: Bartolo Colon, Melky Cabrera and Yasmani Grandal receive no additional discipline

The three players who had previously tested positive for PEDs will not face additional punishment for their link to Biogenesis.

Athletics pitcher Bartolo Colon, Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera and Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal will receive no additional punishments for their involvement with Bigonesis, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

MLB suspended all three players last year for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, with Grandal and Colon’s suspensions carrying over into 2013. The trio has been linked to Biogenesis, but will not be punished a second time.

The ruling is particularly important for Colon and the Athletics. The right-hander has been excellent this season, going 14-3 with a 2.50 ERA. Oakland enters Monday with a 2 1/2 game lead over the Rangers in the AL West, but Texas is losing Nelson Cruz to a 50-game suspension.

No violations were found for Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez and Orioles infielder Danny Valencia, according to Rosenthal. Both players were linked in the original report and were presumably investigated by MLB, but neither player will receive any punishment.
