Biogenesis: Last minute deal for Alex Rodriguez rebuffed

MLB will officially annouce Rodriguez’s suspension at 3 p.m. ET.

The MLBPA attempted to strike a deal with MLB regarding 214-game suspension Alex Rodriguez is set to serve, but were rebuffed, according to T.J. Quinn of ESPN.

MLB plans to make Rodriguez’s suspension official at 3 p.m. ET. Rodriguez will be punished under the Joint Drug Agreement and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but will be allowed to play while he files an appeal, according to Quinn.

Rodriguez and 12 other players will receive suspensions for their connection to Biogensis, a now-defunt Miami anti-aging clinic. The other 12 players will serve 50-game bans, and will accept their punishments without appeal. The other 12 players receiving suspensions include Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta, Everth Cabrera, Jesus Montero, Francisco Cervelli, Fernando Martinez, Jordan Norberto, Fautino De Los Santos and Cesar Puello, Jordany Valdespin, Antonio Bastrado and Sergio Escalona

The Yankees are expected to activate the third baseman off the disabled list on Monday. Joe Girardi expects Rodriguez to play against the Chicago White Sox, tentatively placing Rodriguez in the lineup.
