Jhonny Peralta was suspended for 50-games, possibly ending his regular season, for his involvement with the Biogenesis clinic. Like many of the others who were caught, Peralta released a statement apologizing for his actions:

The Tigers shortstop doesn’t give any excuses, and simply apologizes.
In spring of 2012, I made a terrible mistake that I deeply regret. I apologize to everyone that I have hurt as a result of my mistake, including my teammates, the Tigers' organization, the great fans in Detroit, Major League Baseball, and my family. I take full responsibility for my actions, have no excuses for my lapse in judgment and I accept my suspension.
I love the fans, my teammates and this organization and my greatest punishment is knowing that I have let so many good people down. I promise to do everything possible to try and earn back the respect that I have lost.
Nelson Cruz pointed to a specific moment -- fear of not being in shape for the regular season after a gastrointestinal virus cost him 40 pounds -- and Alex Rodriguez planned to fight his own suspension. Peralta, though, eschews any fighting words or anything that could be construed as an excuse, and basically says, "I have let you down and I feel pretty lame about that, and will work hard to make up for it."
There’s something kind of neat about that, given how many excuses you’re liable to see in a moment like this.
