Around the Bases: #BUNTZ, Andrelton Simmons is good at baseball, Royals score runs

Braves 3, Nationals 2: Despite an excellent performance from Stephen Strasburg in which he struck out nine and walked only one, the Braves were able to win this one by one run.

Andrelton Simmons has no concern for your realistic expectations of things baseball players can do:

Tigers 4, Indians 2: The underdog Indians were on their way to a 2-0 win when Chris Perez exploded and the Tigers jumped on him for four runs in the ninth. Al Avila hit a three-run home run, and that would be all Detroit would need to win this one.

Dodgers 3, Cardinals 2: The highlight of this one was the #BUNTZ from St. Louis, with the most offensive one being a sac bunt by Carlos Beltran. The Dodgers now have a 14-game road winning streak.

Astros 2, Red Sox 0: Brett Oberholtzer shut down the Red Sox in this one, striking out two batters over seven shutout innings. Robbie Grossman and Brandon Barnes each drove in runs for the Astros.

Royals 13, Twins 0: Eric Hosmer went 3-5, Mike Moustakas went 4-5, Lorenzo Cain went 2-3 and Dayton Moore continues to look like his job is getting safer and safer. The Royals are now five games over .500, and with the Indians' loss, they move closer to playoff contention.

White Sox 8, Yankees 1: A-Rod went 1-4, and the Yankees were generally awful in this one. A-Rod did not have any veteran presents to provide the Yankees in this one, even with Vernon Wells manning first base.

Blue Jays 3, Mariners 1: Brett Lawrie hit a double and a triple, and R.A. Dickey pitched 7⅔ innings of one run baseball.

Rangers 5, Angels 2: The Rangers gained some more ground on the first-place Athetics by taking the first game of the series in Anaheim. Elvis Andrus drove in two runs with a triple and Adrian Beltre hit his 24th home run of the year.

Brewers 1, Giants 4: Chad Gaudin got a no-decision despite going 6⅓ innings and giving up just one run on four hits and four walks, striking out eight. The Giants once again stranded many runners in scoring position until the eighth inning, when they got three runs on a pinch hit by Jeff Francoeur and a Brewers fielding error.
