Corey Kluber pitched over seven innings of scoreless baseball for the Cleveland Indians on Monday night, but the Tribe still ended up losing a 4-2 decision to the Detroit Tigers. The news gets worse, however, as the team announced Kluber will be out for at least a month due to a finger sprain sustained during his last outing.

Kluber compiled a solid 2.33 ERA and 22 strikeouts in four starts since the MLB’s All-Star break, but the Indians’ 27-year-old righty wasn’t able to pick up a decision in any of the outings. That’ll remain the case for the foreseeable future, too, which disappoints manager Terry Francona.
“I’m disappointed for [Kluber],” Francona said. “It makes it harder for us. It doesn’t mean that we can’t do it, it just makes it harder. But I’m real disappointed for him, because he’s worked so hard. And he will continue to, and he’ll be fine. Just, you’ve got to be patient with these types of things or you can get yourself in trouble, so we won’t.”
The team initially called right-handed reliever Matt Langwell up from Columbus to take Kluber's spot on the roster Tuesday. Langwell was optioned back to Columbus on Wednesday, however, in order for the Indians to call-up prospect Danny Salazar so that he could start against the Tigers later in the evening.
