Albert Pujols’ former trainer denies steroid accusation

Chris Mihlfeld said that Jack Clark’s statements regarding Pujols’ alleged PED use “are simply not true.”

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Mihlfeld, the former personal trainer of Albert Pujols, has forcefully denied the claim that he told Jack Clark that Pujols used PEDs, reports Craig Calcaterra of Hardball Talk:

Mihlfeld replied to Clark’s accusations in an email, writing:

“I haven’t even talked to Jack Clark in close to 10 years. His statements are simply not true. I have known Albert Pujols since he was 18 years old and he would never use illegal drugs in any way. I would bet my life on it and probably drop dead on the spot if I found out he has. As before once again both Albert and myself have been accused of doing something we didn’t do.”

Clark served as the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach in the early 2000s and claims he knows that Pujols took PEDs because Mihlfeld "basically told me that's what he did." When asked why Clark may have made those claims, Mihlfeld responded with:

“I have no idea. Alls I can say is that it is absolutely not true....I never said those things to Jack Clark or anyone else because they never happened. That’s all I need to say.”
