Miguel Cabrera injury: Tigers 3B remains out of lineup

Cabrera has been dealing with abdominal pains and is not ready to return to the field.

The Detroit Tigers posted their Sunday lineup and third baseman Miguel Cabrera is once again not starting, reports MLB.com's Jason Beck.

More Tigers coverage: Bless You Boys

This is the second straight game that Cabrera has been out of the Tigers lineup due to abdominal pains. The slugger has been experiencing discomfort for the past few weeks. The pain eventually was so bad that he had to be removed from Friday’s game in the third inning.

Tigers Manager Jim Leyland said he had been “really encouraged” by Cabrera’s condition on Saturday. Cabrera obviously still has a little ways to go before Detroit feels comfortable putting him back on the field.

Cabrera is in the hunt for a second consecutive Triple Crown. He leads all of Major League Baseball with a .358 average, leads the MLB with 130 RBI, but is second in home runs to the Orioles' Chris Davis. Cabrera has hit 43 long balls to Davis' 47.

Ramon Santiago will start at third base in Cabrera's absence.
