Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez will be out until next week with an irritated nerve in his back, the team announced on Friday.
Hanley Ramirez injury: Dodgers SS out with irritated nerve in back
The Dodgers will be without their top hitter for at least the duration of their weekend series against the Giants.

Ramirez underwent an MRI that showed nothing different than what was seen in an MRI taken of the same area in 2011, per the Dodgers. He will receive treatment in the form of a cortisone injection before returning to action sometime during the team’s upcoming 10-game road trip.
Ramirez owns a .342/.390/.634 line with 18 home runs in 310 plate appearances spanning 79 games for the National League West leaders. The Dodgers are 51-28 in those games, and 47-24 in Ramirez’s 71 starts.
Nick Punto will start at shortstop in lieu of Ramirez for the Dodgers on Friday in their second game of a four-game set against the San Francisco Giants.
