Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Bourn was out of the lineup on Wednesday, but X-rays on his right wrist were negative, leaving Bourn able to pinch-run if needed, manager Terry Francona told Ohio.com's Stephanie Storm.

Bourn suffered the injury after sliding into second base during the fifth inning of the Indians' win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The speedy outfielder exited the game after the injury, but felt better on Wednesday and says he could have started.
“I think it’s okay. I just jammed it into the ground. I went pretty hard and it was sore, so I had to come out the game ... I want to play, but we’re being precautionary.”
Bourn is hitting .260/.314/.355 in his first season with the Tribe.

- Boston Red Sox catcher Mike Napoli was held out of the lineup with a sore foot for the fourth straight game on Wednesday. He was made available to pinch hit, per Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald, and is expected to start at first base on Friday in Baltimore.
- Andre Ethier might not be available for the Los Angeles Dodgers when the playoffs start, says ESPN's Mark Saxon. The 31-year-old outfielder suffered a setback while rehabbing his sprained right ankle on Tuesday and returned to L.A. on Wednesday to be re-examined.
- Detroit Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon experienced elbow discomfort after his outing on Tuesday, Tigers trainer Kevin Rand told MLB.com's Jason Beck. Rondon, who struck out the side against the Twins in his first appearance since Sept. 2, is considered day-to-day.
