The Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians both extended their winning streaks to six games on Wednesday and held on to the two American League Wild Card spots.

The Rays, behind a pair of home runs off the bat of Evan Longoria and seven strong innings from David Price, coasted to an 8-3 win over the New York Yankees, who were eliminated from postseason contention a few minutes earlier when the Indians capped off a two-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 7-2 victory.
Tampa Bay remains a game ahead of Cleveland for the top Wild Card spot. The Indians still hold a one-game advantage over the Texas Rangers, who won their third straight over the Houston Astros.
The Kansas City Royals were eliminated after falling on the road to the Seattle Mariners, 6-0.
Tampa Bay has one more against New York before closing out the regular season with a three-game set on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays. Cleveland will hit the road on Thursday to begin a four-game series against the Minnesota Twins while Texas hosts the Los Angeles Angels for four.
