The southpaw held Houston to one run on five hits. Pettitte did a good job controlling the strike zone, striking out five while issuing two walks. He improved to 11-11 on the season with the victory, lowering his ERA to 3.74.
Pettitte’s last complete game also came at Minute Maid Park as a member of the Astros in 2006. He suffered a tough-luck loss on Aug. 16 in ‘06, as Houston lost to the Chicago Cubs 1-0.
The 41-year-old played for 18 seasons, 15 of them with the Yankees. Pettitte will finish with 256 wins and a 3.86 ERA, recording 2,448 strikeouts over 3316 innings pitched. He earned three All-Star berths during his career, and won five World Series rings in New York.
