Rays vs. Rangers score update: Tampa Bay holding onto 4-2 lead

The Rays are three innings away from advancing to the AL Wild Card play-in game.

The Tampa Bay Rays own a 4-2 lead over the Texas Rangers after the sixth inning of the American League Tiebreaker game in Arlington, Texas.

After a couple of scoreless innings by the Rays, they added to their lead when  David DeJesus ripped a double down the right field line to score Evan Longoria.  With a double earlier in the inning, Longoria is now a triple short of the cycle.

The Rays loaded the bases after Alexi Ogando intentionally walked James Loney and gave an unintentional free pass to Yunel Escobar. However, Ogando escaped the jam by inducing a line out off the bat of Jose Molina.

The Rangers answered in the bottom of the sixth when Alex Rios doubled off the left field wall, scoring Elvis Andrus. That woke up the crowd, but not enough to help Texas' offense get any closer.

Rays ace David Price has allowed two runs on six hits through six innings. Rangers starter Martin Perez left with one out in the top of the sixth. He gave up three runs on four hits and struck out five.
