The Los Angeles Dodgers received good news about Matt Kemp and Yasiel Puig Wednesday as both of the injured outfielders are closing in on a return, reports MLB.com. In addition, starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu could make a start soon after being scratched on Friday.

Puig and Ryu could both return within a week while Kemp participated in a simulated game and is inching closer to a return of his own.

Kemp has been on the disabled list since late July with a sprained left ankle. He played five games recently for High-A Rancho Cucamonga and played in a simulated game Wednesday. He is still not expected to return this week, but with the Dodgers holding a 12.5 game lead in the NL West, there is no need to rush Kemp back before he is healthy.
Puig left Monday’s game with right knee discomfort, but took batting practice and pinch-hit in Wednesday’s game. He will likely be able to return to the team’s lineup on Friday, though Manager Don Mattingly refused to comment on that possibility.

Ryu could start for the Dodgers as soon as Tuesday after being scratched from his Friday start with a stiff back. Ryu threw for the team earlier in the week. Mattingly said he did not like the results of that session, leading to Ryu being pushed back. Instead, Chris Capuano is scheduled to start Friday for the Dodgers as they face the Reds.
