September call-ups: Jackie Bradley, Jim Miller, Chris Dickerson

All three players have had at least some major league experience, with Bradley being the only real prospect among them.

As September rolls on and minor league seasons continue to come to an end, more minor leaguers are being called up to join expanded Major League rosters.

Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley was the biggest name called up on Saturday. Bradley was named the No. 31 prospect in all of baseball by Baseball America prior to 2013, and No. 21 at mid-season. After 10 so-so games in Class-A ball in 2011, Bradley has shown a strong ability to get on base the past two seasons. In 128 games between High-A and Double-A in 2012, he posted a .430 OBP. In Triple-A this season, he maintained a strong .374 OBP. His power numbers aren't outstanding, but Bradley plays excellent defense in center field.

Bradley has been up and down with the Red Sox in 2013. His call-up in September will mark his fourth stint on the Major League roster this season. Over 23 games in the majors, he has hit .155/.258/.310 with two home runs. Bradley is starting in center field for the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing Jacoby Ellsbury to have a day off. With Ellsbury a free agent in the offseason, it's possible that Bradley could be the full-time starter in Boston as soon as next year.

Two other call-ups have been made the past two days:

The first, as originally reported by MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo, was the call-up of RHP Jim Miller by the Yankees. Miller, 31, has played briefly in the majors in each of three seasons. His most extensive experience came last year when he pitched in 33 games for the Oakland Athletics. Miller has a 3.55 ERA in 43 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2013.

In addition to Bradley and Miller, outfielder Chris Dickerson is back in the majors after the Orioles recalled him from Triple-A Norfolk. Dickerson played in 47 games for the Orioles earlier in 2013, posting a 679 OPS. Going down the stretch, the Orioles will likely use him primarily as a pinch-runner and defensive specialist.
