Baltimore manager Buck Showalter recently spoke about some the team’s injury concerns in an call-in segment with WBAL Radio (via MASN Baltimore’s Roch Kubatko).
Orioles rumors: Chen, Machado injury updates
Both players are recovering from knee injuries, but manager Buck Showalter expects them “to be fine.”

Showalter said Wei-Yin Chen is coming along "a little slow," but he expects the 28-year-old lefty to "be fine." Chen had bone spurs removed from his knee this offseason, and though he hasn't suffered any setbacks, the team is keeping an eye on his recovery.

Chen finished fourth in the AL Rookie of the Year voting after his first year with the club in 2012. Since Baltimore signed him out of Taiwan as an amateur free agent, Chen has been a consistently serviceable option in the Orioles' rotation, posting a 97 ERA- in 55 starts.
After winning a Gold Glove at third base and being named an all-star in first full season in the majors, Manny Machado tore a ligament in his left knee and underwent surgery to repair the damage in October. He is still expected to miss the beginning of the 2014 season, but will reportedly take part in the team's minicamp in Sarasota next week.
When they return, both players should play a significant role for the O’s in 2014 as they navigate on the always-contentious AL East.
