The MLBPA has not approved new rules proposals regarding expanded instant replay and the elimination of home plate collisions, according to Jon Morosi. In order for the rules to go into effect for the upcoming season, the Union must ratify them. Apparently, it is not a sure thing that they will do so.

It is unclear whether or not new rules regarding expanded replay and home plate collisions will be implemented for the 2014 season. The Players’ Union has yet to give the okay.

The union's new executive director Tony Clark said that they have had discussions about the new rules changes but have not come to a consensus. It seemed like ratification of the new rules was a foregone conclusion when baseball officials made the announcements at December's winter meetings, but Morosi's reports suggests the roll has been slowed.
Also, in a series of tweets from Morosi, he indicates that this could or could not have anything to do with the ongoing Alex Rodriguez saga. The MLBPA is reportedly "furious" about MLB's interviews on CBS' 60 Minutes. MLB's COO Rob Manfred and lead witness Tony Bosch were featured on Sunday's episode discussing the case. Morosi says that two player agents told him they do not expect MLBPA to hold up the new rules in retaliation for the A-Rod case, but another hinted that the union isn't just going to roll over and play nicely, either.
