Dodgers news: MLB approves TV deal, 24-7 team channel
For those who can’t get enough Dodgers, they now have a channel for that.

After an incredibly eventful offseason, it seems like most major-media outlets already fit that description, but as the Dodgers have shown time and time again, there’s no such thing as too much.
The new channel, Sportsnet LA, is set to be launched on Feb. 25, a day before the team begins its spring schedule in the Cactus League. It is slated to air every game this spring, as well as all of the team’s regular season games -- except those selected for national broadcasts.

The channel is likely to cost “about $5 per month, per subscriber.” However, the Dodgers’ partner, Time Warner Cable, has yet to secure deals with cable and satellite providers to make the new channel available for customers.
Those deals may take some time to develop, meaning the the launch date could be pushed back, perhaps even after the team begins its regular season in Sydney, Australia on March 22.
The team has reportedly come to agreements with on-air personalities that include former big leaguers Orel Hershiser, Nomar Garciaparra, and Jerry Hairston, Jr. -- though none have been officially announced yet.
The deal is reportedly worth $8.5 billion. The team is expected to keep around $6 billion of that amount and share the remainder with the rest of the league.
The two sides agreed to the deal “long ago,” but documentation delayed a formal approval from the league, according to the team’s controlling owner, Mark Walter.
