As pitchers like Ubaldo Jimenez, Ervin Santana, and Matt Garza wait for Masahiro Tanaka to choose a destination, Bronson Arroyo has been making the rounds and is reportedly involved in ongoing discussions with the Baltimore Orioles, according to Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. The Dodgers are also interested per Morosi and Rosenthal.

While the top tier free agent starters wait for Masahiro Tanaka to make his choice, Bronson Arroyo is quietly looking for work.

The Orioles are in need of pitching depth entering the 2014 season and could benefit from a consistent innings eater like Arroyo. In 2013, only one O's starter, Chris Tillman, threw more than 180 innings. Arroyo hasn't thrown fewer that 199 innings since 2004. While he isn't know for being a standout performer, Arroyo is perhaps one of the most predictable starters in baseball and his homerun problems shouldn't get worse by moving from one small ballpark to another.

In October, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reported that Arroyo is looking for at least two years on the free agent market and that Cincinnati had all but officially decided against re-signing the right-hander. While the Orioles could be a nice fit for Arroyo, it will come down to his asking price and what over teams are willing to pony up for a back of the rotation starter.
At the very least, the Orioles have the money they intended to pay to Grant Balfour before his contract feel through last month given that they do not intend to sign another free agent closer.
