The San Francisco Giants captured their third pennant in five years on Thursday night, advancing to the 2014 World Series to play the Kansas City Royals. The Fall Classic, featuring a pair of wild card teams, gets underway on Tuesday night, with the first two games at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

This is the second World Series matchup between two wild card teams. In 2002, the Giants lost to the Angels in seven games in baseball's first all-wild-card World Series.

The Giants beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-3, in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday night at AT&T Park in San Francisco, finishing off a 4-1 series victory. The Royals swept the Baltimore Orioles in the ALCS, clinching the pennant on Wednesday.

These two teams have never met in the postseason. It is the 20th World Series appearance by the Giants, the most ever by a National League team, with recent wins coming in the 2010 and 2012 World Series. The Royals last played in, and won, a World Series in 1985, which was also the last year they reached the postseason before 2014.

Here is the full schedule:

Game 1: Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Kauffman Stadium
Game 2: Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Kauffman Stadium
Game 3: Friday, Oct. 24 at AT&T Park
Game 4: Saturday, Oct. 25 AT&T Park
Game 5*: Sunday, Oct. 26 AT&T Park
Game 6*: Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Kauffman Stadium
Game 7*: Wednesday, Oct. 29 at Kauffman Stadium
*if necessary

All seven games are scheduled to start at 8:07 p.m. ET, and will be televised on FOX. Joe Buck, Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci will call every game, with Ken Rosenthal and Erin Andrews reporting.

The Royals are 8-0 this postseason, and the Giants are 8-2. The Royals swept the Giants in interleague play during the regular season, beating them in three straight at Kauffman Stadium from Aug. 8-10.
