The World Series is finally here after what seemed like ages between the LCS round and now. The Royals and Giants are both using lineups that should be familiar to anyone who has been paying attention this October: Alex Gordon is still hitting sixth (and the Royals have gotten away with it for this long, so whatever), and Mike Morse is the designated hitter as was expected now that it’s an option for Giants’ manager Bruce Bochy.
Royals, Giants set World Series Game 1 lineups
It’s a cast of familiar faces on both sides, except now the Giants have a DH.

On the mound, the Royals will use James Shields to open yet another series -- he pitched the Wild Card game against the Athletics and Game 1 of the ALCS against the Orioles as well. Madison Bumgarner will get the start for the Giants, and he’s in a similar situation: He pitched San Francisco to victory with an incredible performance against the Pirates in the NL’s Wild Card game and opened up the NLCS against the Cardinals. Both hurlers also pitched in the clinching game of their respective Division Series: the lone difference at this point is that Shields didn’t need to pitch a Game 5 in the ALCS, and Bumgarner did in the NLCS:
