Giants vs. Royals, 2014 World Series Game 2: Time, TV schedule, live stream and more

The Giants have already stolen home field advantage in the World Series. Now, a bounce-back start from Jake Peavy can help give them a commanding 2-0 lead before they head back to San Francisco.

Jake Peavy was not at his best in his last start, the only game the San Francisco Giants have lost to this point in the 2014 postseason. He was the first one to admit it.

"I fought myself a little bit in that start in St. Louis," Peavy said before the Giants' win over the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday. "I needed some time to make sure we got things back in place."

Peavy lasted only four innings in the Giants' loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2 of the NLCS, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. The 33-year-old right-hander threw only 40 of 76 pitches for strikes before being pulled in favor of pinch hitter Joaquin Arias in the fifth inning.

“When you go out there, like I did in St. Louis, and you realize you’re not in sync early, you try to find that you’ve got to fight yourself a little bit as you’re fighting the opposition,” Peavy explained. “That makes for a tough night.”

The 13-year big league veteran believes the 10-day rest period will help him bounce back.

“The layoff has been good for me,” Peavy said. “It’s been good to throw. I’ve still got some throwing left to do today in preparation for tomorrow, but I can’t see it any other way in my mind,” he added. “I’m going to do all I can do to execute pitches, and I feel really confident about my ability to do that.”

Peavy will be opposed by Yordano Ventura in Game 2 of the World Series. The Royals rookie bounced back from a tough relief appearance in the AL Wild Card game to hold the Los Angeles Angels to one run in seven innings in the ALDS. He kept the Baltimore Orioles in check for 5⅔ innings in the ALCS.
