The Arizona Diamondbacks have hired Bryan Minniti as assistant general manager, the team announced on Thursday. He will serve under GM Dave Stewart, who was hired by the club last month.
Diamondbacks hire Bryan Minniti as assistant GM
Arizona continued its massive front office overhaul on Thursday.

Minniti spent the last five seasons as the assistant GM for the Washington Nationals, who were eliminated in the National League Division Series after finishing with the league's best record for the second time in three seasons. While working under Nationals GM Mike Rizzo, Minniti was part of a front office staff that drafted major league stars and contributors such as Bryce Harper, Anthony Rendon, Aaron Barrett and others. The team also acquired Doug Fister, Gio Gonzalez, Denard Span, Wilson Ramos and others in separate shrewd deals during Minniti's tenure.
In 2001, Minniti began his career in baseball serving as an intern in the Pittsburgh Pirates' baseball operations department. He spent nine years in the Pirates' front office before joining the Nationals.
The D-backs also brought in Mike Russell as a baseball operations special assistant and pro scouting coordinator. Russell had served as a major league scout for the Detroit Tigers since 2002.
Those two changes made by the D-backs are the latest in a string of moves that began with the hiring of Tony La Russa as chief baseball officer in May. Stewart and senior vice president of baseball operations De Jon Watson were brought in on Sept. 25, just weeks before the team switched out its manager and about half of the major league coaching staff.
