This might be the best pitching matchup since Walter Johnson took on Smoky Joe Wood in 1912:
Cardinals, Dodgers set lineups for NLDS Game 1
Clayton Kershaw faces Adam Wainwright in a dream matchup.

These lineups will have their hands full tonight. @Cardinals-@Dodgers at 6:30pm on @FOXSports1. #postseason pic.twitter.com/fjn1Sbcbsc
— MLB (@MLB) October 3, 2014 Note the Cardinals have gotten some extra right-handed batters into the lineup in Randal Grichuk and Pete "Suicide Weapon" Kozma in an effort to combat Kershaw. It's probably a futile effort given that an overmatched Kolten Wong might have a better chance of making a hit against Kershaw than Kozma on his best day -- the left-handed Wong hit lefties better than he did righties, albeit in a small sample -- but far be it from us to first-guess Mike Matheny. The Cardinals were 20-18 against left-handed pitchers this the season, so something must sort-of be working, right?
The game begins this evening at 6:30 p.m. ET. Stay tuned for more updates.
