Clayton Kershaw scoreless through 5, Dodgers grab lead in NLDS Game 4

Any fears that Clayton Kershaw was owned by the Cardinals were at least temporarily assuaged by his first five innings. On three days rest, Kershaw is through five frames with no runs allowed. The left-hander, who allowed eight runs in a Game 1 loss, has allowed one hit and two walks, with six strikeouts through five innings.
Kershaw has thrown 78 pitches, trying to snap a three-game postseason losing streak to St. Louis.
He made one other start on three days rest, in Game 4 of the 2013 NLDS against the Braves, but was removed after 91 pitches in six innings.
Shelby Miller, on two weeks rest, kept pace with Kershaw through five scoreless innings, but a pair of singles to open the sixth led to the Dodgers' first run.
The Dodgers lead, 1-0, with Kershaw on the mound, and are in position to hand a lead to their bullpen for a third straight game. Dodgers relievers have blown leads with a home run in each of the last two contests.
