Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels and his right-hand man, Thad Levine, recently received contract extensions from the club, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

The architects of a pair of recent American League pennant winners were given contract extensions to remain in Texas.

Both extensions are believed to be for five years, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News.
Daniels, 37, has been the Rangers' GM since 2005, when he gradually began to build a team that reached the World Series twice and appeared in the postseason for three consecutive years. Among the major moves made during Daniels' tenure are the signings of high-profile free agents Yu Darvish and Adrian Beltre, the acquisition of Josh Hamilton in a trade and the dealing of Mark Teixeira for one of the best prospect packages in recent memory.
Since Daniels became the youngest GM in MLB history, Levine has worked by his side as the Rangers' assistant GM. He was in the running for the Diamondbacks' GM job before determining the situation unfit and opting to return to his role in Texas.
The Rangers completed their worst season of Daniels' tenure in 2014, losing 95 games while dealing with injuries to Prince Fielder, Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and others.
