SB Nation MLB Funniest Moments of the Year nominees

When there are 162 games and each of them takes three to four hours, there are a lot of opportunities for entertainment both on and off the field. A committee of SB Nation baseball editors and writers -- Grant Brisbee, Marc Normandin, Bill Hanstock and Kurt Mensching -- picked the funniest moments from our baseball blogs’ nominations. Now it’s your turn to tell us which hit was your favorite.

Chris Sale seemed to think the Tigers were stealing signs in a September game against the White Sox. Baseball being baseball, Sale took it upon himself to be judge and jury of the accusation and hit Victor Martinez, starting a bench-clearing kerfuffle. (Baseball fights are seldom fights, kerfuffle sounds more fun.) Ian Kinsler, having got wind of Sale’s accusation, had a little fun of his own, and then Baseball Internet started having fun, too.

Craig Kimbrel is some sort of bird or airplane who can’t quite hold its wings up while sitting on the ground. He is designed to soar. This is just asking for fun. Phillies fans provided it:

A brother’s got to take care of a brother, right? Yadier Molina couldn’t play against Jose Molina’s Rays due to a thumb injury, but he still wanted to make sure his older brother had his nutritious needs taken care of. So he sent Cards third base coach Jose Oquendo with some crackers to leave at home plate between innings. Jose appreciated the gesture.

The thing you have to understand is we at SB Nation love nutshots. We might love them less if we were the ones taking the shot, but we can assure you we’d still be OK with everyone else laughing at our misfortune.
