Left-hander Andrew Miller, one of the most coveted relievers on MLB's free-agent market, has signed a four-year, $36 million contract with the New York Yankees, according to Jack Curry of YES.

The lefty reliever’s contract will set a record for middle relievers
The sixth overall pick in the 2006 draft, Miller finished 2014 with a 2.02 ERA and 1.51 FIP in 73 appearances with Boston and Baltimore. Miller compiled 103 strikeouts over that span, walking just 17 batters in one of the more dominant relief seasons in recent memory. His 42.6% strikeout rate this season was second only to Reds closer Aroldis Chapman (min. 50 IP) among MLB pitchers.

The southpaw hasn't always been such a success throughout his nine-year his career. He struggled as a starter during stints with the Tigers, Marlins and Red Sox before Boston moved him to the bullpen full-time in 2012. Over that time, Miller has posted a 2.57 ERA, striking out more than 3.7 times as many batters as he walked since becoming a reliever.
Miller’s contract sets a record for non-closing relievers, doubling the previous record held by Jeremy Affeldt. Miller won’t cost the Yankees a draft pick since the Orioles traded for him mid-season and couldn’t extend him a qualifying offer. The 29-year-old earned $1.9 million in his final year of team control in 2014.
