The Texas Rangers announced a one-year contract extension with manager Ron Washington on Monday. His deal now runs through the end of the 2015 season.

Washington, who is the club’s all-time winningest manager, saw his contract extended through 2015 on Monday.

Washington, 61, has managed the club since 2007. Despite spending just seven seasons in Arlington, Washington became the franchise's all-time winningest manager last August when he picked up win No. 582. He took the Rangers to their first ever World Series in 2010, and then made a return trip in 2011.

Earlier on Monday, the manager made headlines when he defended his controversial bunt-happy ways.
“I think if they try to do that, they’re going to be telling me how to [bleep] manage,” Washington said. “That’s the way I answer that [bleep] question. They can take the analytics on that and shove it up their [bleep][bleep].”

Harrison gets good news
Matt Harrison, who underwent an MRI last week after experiencing some stiffness in his lower back, received good news on Monday as reports on the stiffness came back as a "best scenario" moving forward.
The southpaw underwent back surgery last year. Some had wondered if he may need more surgery once the stiffness returned, but that no longer appears to be the case. Here are some more details on his prognosis going forward:

After posting two really good seasons in 2011 and 2012, he made just two starts last season and was clearly not healthy. In 635 career big league innings, Harrison owns a 48-32 record and 4.15 ERA.
Without much depth in the rotation, Texas really needs the 28-year-old lefty to have a strong year on the mound.
