Walt Weiss ‘not happy’ with Diamondbacks following Tulowitzki HBP

The Diamondbacks are at it again.

Troy Tulowitzki is "fine," but Rockies manager Walt Weiss is unhappy about his shortstop getting hit in the leg by a pitch from Diamondbacks left hander Wade Miley, according to the Denver Post's Troy Renck.

Weiss didn’t appear to be too upset, based on the quotes that basically amounted to, “Stuff happens.”

However, the Colorado skipper wasn’t completely convinced that the Diamondbacks didn’t hit Tulowitzki intentionally.

Arizona has developed something of a reputation for beaning players over the last few months thanks to the infamous dust-up with the Dodgers, and general manager Kevin Towers’ comments indicating that he’d like his pitchers to hit more batters this season.

“I think come Spring Training, it will be duly noted that it’s going to be an eye for an eye and we’re going to protect one another. If not, if you have options, there’s ways to get you out of here, and you don’t follow suit or you don’t feel comfortable doing it, you probably don’t belong in a Diamondbacks uniform.”

Tulowitzki has dealt with several injuries in his career, so Colorado might be a little more sensitive with him than they might've been with another, less notable player. The Rockies retaliated by throwing behind catcher Miguel Montero later in the game. Home plate umpire Doug Eddings subsequently issued warnings to both sides.

If Towers’ steadfastness to old school tenacity last October is any indication, this could be the beginning of an HBP-feud between rival rivals.
