Bronson Arroyo is 37 years old and he's thrown more than 2,000 innings in the majors since 2003.
Bronson Arroyo injury: Diamondbacks treating right hander for bulging disc
Arizona doesn’t think the injury is serious, but they will limit Arroyo’s activity for the next seven to 10 days.

Those facts led to a long period of inactivity on the open market for the 14-year veteran, but Arizona finally decided -- after losing out on Masahiro Tanaka -- that Arroyo's dependability was enough for them to offer him a two-year deal that guarantees him $23.5 million. Now, some of their presumed concerns about him appear to be flaring up in the form of a bulging disc in Arroyo's back, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert.
The team doesn’t believe the injury to be serious, but they still plan to shut him down for seven to 10 days to make sure he’s ready to start the season.
D-backs’ general manager Kevin Towers said he does not believe the injury will cause Arroyo to begin the year on the disabled list.
“Arroyo doesn’t think it will take [7-10 days]. Nothing [the team doctors are] concerned about. It’s not a herniated disk. He did it running the other day, felt it running. It’s not anything worse than he had before.”
Arroyo dealt with a similar injury in 2011, which is the only season in which he has failed to throw for more than 200 innings since 2004, but he just missed the mark with 199, so the injury wasn’t serious enough to limit him significantly.
Over the last two seasons, Arroyo has been the model of consistency, throwing 202 innings in each campaign and posting ERAs of 3.74 and 3.79 in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
