Adrian Beltre injury: Rangers place 3B on 15-day disabled list with quad injury

The move is retroactive to April 9 because Beltre has not played in a game since Tuesday.

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a quad injury in his left leg, according to CBS Sports' Mike Axisa. Beltre has not played in a game since Tuesday, so the move will be backdated to April 9.

The recently acquired Hector Noesi will take Beltre's spot on the roster.

Beltre, 35, struggled with the same issue during spring training, but it didn’t keep him from hitting .286/.394/.393 through his first 33 plate appearances this season.

Kevin Kouzmanoff and Josh Wilson have filled in at third for the Rangers and Alex Rios has been moved into the third spot in the batting order.

Beltre joins a long list of injured Rangers this year. Geovany Soto, Jurickson Profar, Matt Harrison and Derek Holland are currently on the disabled list, among others. If Beltre misses significant time, the Rangers could begin to look for another infielder on the trade market. They have already added Donnie Murphy via waivers, and Adam Rosales could also function as a utility infielder for the team.
