Speaking about the intense argument between Yankees manager Joe Girardi and umpire Laz Diaz, MLB Vice President Joe Torre thinks that the man in blue played a clear role in its escalation, according to statements he made regarding the incident, per ESPN New York.
Torre says umpire ‘must share blame’ in Girardi ejection; Fire alarm at Comerica Park
Joe Torre puts the heat on umpire Laz Diaz for an altercation with Joe Girardi, while Comerica Park deals with the fire alarms going off.

"Laz has to take on a certain amount of responsibility, too,'' Torre told reporters, "He certainly has to take his share of the blame." But Torre doesn't believe that the argument was pre-planned like Girardi claimed when he said Diaz "had it out" for the Yankees following an incident involving former catcher Russell Martin.
“He’s a little too friendly at times, but not with any malice intended. But he certainly, I think, contributed to what took place that night.”
Fire alarm goes off at Comerica Park
The ninth inning of the Tigers game against the Twins -- which Detroit ultimately lost 2-1 -- was interrupted by a fire alarm going off in response to an incident that occurred in a VIP section of the stadium called the Tiger Club.
The emergency was a mechanical fire in a janitor's closet in Tigers Club. Was fully contained before Fire Dept arrived. #Tigers
— Matthew B. Mowery (@matthewbmowery) May 10, 2014 Everything ended up being just fine, but it did give veteran outfielder Torii Hunter an opportunity to show his rapier-like wit once again.
Hunter said next time fire alarm goes off he's running even if nobody else is "I don't have to be cool, I'll be the only one alive!"
