The Daily Puig: Yasiel Puig (and his bat flips) cannot be stopped

A new wrinkle on the bat flip just gives Puig’s homer that little something extra.

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Yasiel Puig missed a little time after almost killing himself on an outfield wall, but he's been back in the lineup for almost a week now and has been unstoppable. Puig's third homer in his last six games came against the Marlins and Tom Koehler on Monday to give the Dodgers the lead:

Puig-homer

It was a deep blast, Puig’s third-longest shot of 2014, but it’s the bat flip plus finger point combo that makes my heart grow:

Puig-flip-and-point

Puig is now hitting .400/.491/.711 with four homers in the month of May, and owns a season line of .318/.408/.553 -- that means he's actually producing at a higher level than he did in 2013, when he took the league by storm and revitalized the Dodgers en route to a division title. Sure, he runs into an out every now and again on the basepaths, and he loathes cutoff men like his proponents loathe bat flips, but he just crushes baseballs way more often than he does any of that.

Puig even crushes them in video games, and is as ecstatic as you think he would be about it.
